Blue Birdbath for Spring!

When I found this beautiful blue plate, I knew it was perfect for a birdbath. Here it is, all ready for spring!    We actually had some sunshine last weekend, so I took it out in the snow and quickly snapped some pictures.
I love how the blue really contrasts with the bright, white snow; but I'm definitely not keeping this outside in the winter for fear the top dish might crack.

Here's another one, slightly different with a ceramic plate for the top; more of a plantstand or sidetable since I doubt it would hold much water.

This weekend the sun is nowhere to be found.   It's very dreary, cloudy and cold!  Yuck!  I'm really anxious for January to be over; such a long, cold month!   These are the months I really envy those in warmer climates who can play in their yard pretty much all year!   You know who you are!! (smile!)

Vintage Valentines 4-Sale!

Several months ago, I scored this super-old scrapbook at a flea-market.   It's from 1916 belonging to the one&only Betty Johnson and is chock full of old valentines and flower pics.   I love it!

Isn't this little Valentine postcard simply adorable?   I love the illustration and note the cute little saying!   (You can click on any picture to enlarge.)
(also notice the year on the bottom: 1907!)
Here's a few others:

Most of them are 'cemented' pretty good to the paper but I did manage to pull a few off and am willing to part with them.   I offer you the following package deal:

- The Vintage Valentines are SOLD -

Two of them are actual postcards.   They are all in pretty good shape for as old as they are.

(the back of this one includes some of the scrapbook paper; I'll throw that in for free!ha)
(checkout the postmark date: actual Valentine's Day in 1909)

(The back of this one started to tear but it didn't tear thru.)

Also included are a couple cute smalls:

The price for the bundle is $6.00 and shipping will be $1.50.   If you are interested at all, either email me (my email address is on the right-side bar) or leave a comment and I'll be in touch.

These would be super-cute for those of you who make Valentine crafts, etc.

Thanks for looking!

A Few Finds at the Thrift Store

Every weekend, it seems I have to walk thru at least one thrift store; unless, of course, we've spent the day at the flea market, then I'll pass it up and try to make it to at least one during the week! ha!  (Speaking of which, I'm going to one Tuesday on my lunch hour because every last Tuesday of the month, EVERYTHING is 50% OFF! I can't wait!)

Here's just a few finds from today.   Very cheap!   The blue bottle (which I think I'll make into a hummingbird feeder) was only $1.91!   The white vase 90 cents; the pink vase 90 cents; candlesticks 50 cents each.

I just adore these cute little flower pots!   Now they were a little pricier than I usually spend; they were 90 cents each but they are Party-Lite brand and I just love them!
And how about these nesting boxes!!  The colors are just beautiful and got all four of them for $1.80!   Even papered on the inside!

I need to be careful because my family room is becoming over-run with glassware and craft supplies again!!   Maybe it's time to start thinking about renting a storage space or something!   (You ever watch that show Storage Wars?   We like that show but we all hate Dave! ha!)

Have a great week!   It's darn cold here!!   Stay warm!

Fab Flea Find!

What else is there to do on a winter weekend but go to a flea market!   Hubby and I went to the Route 23 Southbound Flea Market, south of Piketon, Ohio yesterday.   This market is more my style - lots of junky finds and cheap!!

Check this out!

Can't you just picture it full of glassware and crafting supplies??!!    Or could even be a display piece when I have sales??    It's about 5 feet tall and it was only $10!    It actually wasn't even for sale; I spotted it towards the back of a booth full of books and asked about it.   The dealer said 'sure, he'd sell it'.  He used it for, what else, books but didn't really have room for it now.   I was thrilled and even more thrilled that it fit in the van!

I also came home with a few pieces of glassware, some old books, an old tablecloth and pillow cover and a few other pieces of bric-a-brac.   Gotta love those 25-cent tables full of junk!

Oh I also found two small flower frogs, the old metal sharp kind and got both of them for $2.00!   The dealer did not know what they were and I had to explain it to him twice.   I still don't think he got it but oh well.

Love a great day at the flea!   I'll take pictures next time so you can tag along!

Garden Whimsies Cure The Blues!

How about a couple colorful garden whimsies to chase the blues away?!

I finally found a few pieces to go with what I already had and voila!

So much inspiration was found at http://www.gardenwhimsiesbymary.com/.   Mary lives in Florida and is having much success with her little business, even had a TV Interview!   You can see it all on her website.

Even more inspiration was found on Mary-Jo's blog: http://www.westbrookfarmscountrygoods.blogspot.com/.   (She won the runner-up prize in my giveaway last month.)   She sells all her goods in the cutest craft mall in Michigan and has an etsy shop!

Thanks girls!   Please visit both sites when you can; very cute stuff!

Once the garden whimsies are cured, I'll glue a small vase to the bottom to fit on a pipe that you can easily place in your garden for some added whimsey!

I think it was Mary from Florida who started calling these ceramic totem pieces whimsies and I sure hope she didn't trademark the name! ha!   Sorry Mary for any infringement!

Well, I think my craft blues are almost gone!   These whimsies sure helped!!

I've Got the Craft Blues

Ha!  (didn't Kraft mac-n-cheese do a commercial about having the blues?)  But seriously, for some reason I've temporarily lost my crafting mo-jo.   I'm bummed.   I'm not sure if it's the usual post-holiday wind-down or the winter doldrums but I just can't seem to get into the crafting mode lately.

It might be the usual purging and organizing that comes this time of year and maybe subconsciously I don't want to mess anything up or get anything out.

I've even forced myself (that makes me laugh just saying it!) to go thru a few thrift stores and we even walked thru a local flea market today; I brought home a few finds but nothing spectacular or anything that has me excited about a new project.

Even tea-stained a few things the other night, thinking that would get the juicies flowing but not quite.

What about you?   What do you do to get or keep crafting??   I'm sure this will pass but I am really anxious to start on a few projects again; just can't seem to get off the couch and out of my snuggie.   (A-HA!   Must get rid of the Snuggie!!  That is one time-stealing, lazy-butt invention!   Please!   It's a bathrobe worn backwards! ha)

On a different note, I have been tagged twice recently by two of my blogging-buddies (Vintage Sue and Sue of Junk-It Junction who lives in Australia!).   Thanks Girls!!  I'll get to working on that this week and maybe that will give my brain something to do other than be down&out with this dumb craft-block.
