Oh my gosh! I am totally in love with this magazine! This is the premier issue and it combines my two favorite things: good-ole junk/flea market finds and gardening! When I first saw it, I literally just wanted to 'transport' myself INTO IT!!

It is definitely pricey: $9.95! But I couldn't help myself. (What is it with the price of magazines these days?? But this mag. has hardly any advertising in it and that's probably why.)

Don'tcha just love those posies tucked in those drawers?! I'm going to try that this spring. What I'm wondering: do you plant directly in the drawer or place a pot in the drawer? I suppose either way would work but I'd love to hear from those of you that use unusual containers for your posies.
I love rusted metal pieces in the garden that look like they've been there for years.
Check out the above desk! Looks too good to be outside and have plants in it! But it is gorgeous! And that little planted chair is just too cute!
And what about this shed??! One of these days, I swear I'm going to have my own little garden shed, decorated so cute I won't want to leave! Just call me when dinner's ready. Or better yet: bring it out to me! ha!
And check it out! Glass totems and plate flowers are becoming very popular!! (That amber one looks almost identical to one I made about 4 years ago and it's still shining in my flower bed.)

This magazine has gotten me so excited for spring. But honestly, there's just no way I could ever have a beautiful garden like these, and I'm ok with that. Unless you have 1 or 2 people able to help and can be out there all day long, I just don't see how it's possible. I don't want my garden to consume me; I want to ENJOY it! I just need to figure out how to have a great garden but on a smaller, more manageable scale. If anyone has figured this out, please, do tell!!

Looks to me like the magazine editors have been lurking on the Garden Junk forum of Gardenweb! I'll have to look for it, as it is right up my alley too! I wish I had a covered porch or patio for a desk like that. Too cute! It would fall apart pretty quickly if was out in the elements though.
That magazine is one I'll definitely be looking for. The price sounds high but with some magazines you get one page of pictures to every two pages of ads. The pictures are amazing, especially that desk. When I put a plant in anything wooden, I put the plant inside a pot and that way I can remove the pot to give the plant a shower if needed or to water it.

a drawer to plant flowers in for
Spring and I am going to put them
in a pot with a saucer underneath
because your drawer will rot from
the moisture. Tina from "Cherryhill
Cottage" painted her drawer with chalk board paint and wrote FLOWERS
on the front. I like that idea so
thats what I am going to do. The
article in that mag looked like
what you make with your glassware.

The wood drawers- depends- how many years you want to use it. Wood will break down faster when wet.
How 'distressed' do you want it to look?

It all does look so familiar. LOL! I think they have been hanging out on Gardenwebs Garden Junk forum too. I love the garden junk stuff though.
I'm thinking a metal cabinet would be great outdoors...the rustier the better is my motto! Wonder how an old filing cabinet in a funky color would look with drawers pulled out with flowers? Hmmm...so looking forward to spring projects.

I saw this magazine in the grocery store (Ontario/Canada) on Sunday and threw it in the cart as it meshed with our long-time vintage/antique collecting habit and a my vengeance for gardening. While my husband waited to pay, I walked away to make a phone call. My husband called after me, "do you know that this magazine costs $12.95?" I indicated that he should buy it anyways, but was significantly sticker-shocked.
However, IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. The articles go right to the last page, photos beautiful, ideas clever. We have been collecting for years (ie about 500 art pottery pieces), and gardening consumes me once the snow goes (rejoiced one spring when we saw the grubs had taken out most of the front lawn, and I promptly put in terraced rock gardens to the street), but aside from picking up a few vintage metal pieces for outside, have never married the two obsessions in a purposeful way. I will now shift some of the stuff that is inside out - less than perfect pottery pieces, for example, will be making some of those vintage glass totems. The first big piece I will 'plant' outside is the fantastic cast iron sewing machine base that has sat next to the furnace for 10 years waiting for it to be made into a side table. It would be perfect in the middle of a huge swath of vinca that is under an old maple back there - with something to plant annuals in on it.
I have already told a few gardener/collector friends about this mag, and look forward to any new issues that come along.

I saw this magazine reviewed on another blog also. I just can't go there with our old oak rolltop desk but I do have the bike and iron bedstead and even an old milk separator. Now if it would just hurry up and be SPRING LOL Oh and an old flower wagon also. Our soil isn't very fertile so I plant everything in raised beds or pots. Thanks for the tour of the mag.

I found this great new magazine at Sam's Club for $6.97! every single feature is amazing and I have to put it down between stories so I can let all the ideas soak in!
I found my copy in our local Safeway. Definitely one of the best magazine purchases I have made recently. We are so inspired to give some of these wonderful ideas a try!

Hi there I am glad to have found you, the magazine is just what I like to look at when i am waiting in the store for my wife to finish her shopping but this time I was suprised right out of my shoes that we were in the magazine under Southern Charm I was so excited that I wanted to go to loud speaker and page my wife to come the magazine dept in Walmart. the page you posted on the rusty stuff the Coke sign and the rusty chair are mixed in the garden. My wife laughs at me for always looking for rusty stuff but I love the history that is connected to it and the texture it brings to the garden setting. I have been working in this garden since 2006 it was a plain Jane no grass just dirt everything else I added I do not spend all day out there I wish I could but the Christmas store I own takes up all of my time but I will say it takes two hours to water and all day Sunday to clean and trim it up.

I was browsing it yesterday, but couldn't get myself to pay $9.95, so I was researching online hoping to buy it for less. I saw this magazine in my local Borders and picked it up and fell in love with it. I think magazines are so expensive and usually don't spend the money. Not this time I couldn't put it down. So home it came and I can't wait to do a couple of the things in my garden.
I purchased the magazine in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and LOVE IT!! I also thought it was a little pricey, but when it was scanned at the checkout counter, it rang up for $7.95! Plus there was an 80¢ "magazine discount" from the store, so I really felt I got my money's worth. Now I am just IMpatiently waiting for the weather to improve so I can get outside and START DECORATING!

I misplaced mine this last week and was reminded at the store. I really love it. the pictures are so colorful and springy.And easy to do. I was just googling to see some pics from it. yours came up first!
I learned a tip from my grandmother, whose garden is AMAZING!!! She told me to take only five things to do in one summer. She said plant only five different plants or tackle five projects you have been wanting to do. Take breaks in between each week or two...or however long it takes to finish the project. If you have finished those projects by the middle or end of the summer and you feel like you can do more, you can always tackle one or two more projects. She reminded me it took her years to get to where she is now with her garden. She does spend about an hour to two hours out in her garden watering or trimming her flowers, trees, etc. But she says that is her relaxation time. And I agree. My gardening is definitely my relaxation.
I am definitely going to get this magazine. I saw it the other day in Walmart and balked at the price too. But now I am probably going to go back and get it.

Does anybody know if we can order a subscription to this magazine? I don't want the digital copy. I want the print issue mailed to my home. I have the first issue but don't recall what store I found it in and have been looking every since for more issues but haven't found it. I know it is published by Country Almanac but I went on their website and didn't find it listed.
this magazine is not in subscription form it is only published once a year and 2011 was the first issue next one is out feb 2012 - it is published by Harris Publications in NYC - they are sold at CHAPTERS IN CANADA AND BARNES & NOBLE IN THE USA - Hope this helps ladies - Ispheria

I have the 2011 issue as described above and also the 2012 issue that I picked up last spring. The info on the inside (about page 4) says it is published annually by Harris Publications of NY but no phone number is listed. I am 3 years later in discovering the magic of this great magazine. It was already one month past "Display Until..." date, so I was fortunate to get the "Sheds With Style" issue. I enjoy "found objects," but the Flea Market look isn't my style. However, I find myself totally captivated by the wonderful things creative people do! And to think I almost passed it up. -Craig
